The spectrum of the vehicle models employed ranges from the classical linear single track model to complex multibody simulation (MBS), taking the effect of friction and nonlinearities into account as well as the inclusion of active systems.

 

 Multibody simulation is especially practical for concept development and detailed part models. For more basic examinations of the driving behavior, particularly based on measured data from the road test as well as for the development of control and driver assist systems, advantageously simplifying model approaches are implemented. This minimizes the parameterization and validation expenditure.

 

The main influences are identified and modeled, depending on the object of examination, i.e. lateral, longitudinal and/or vertical dynamics, the required modeling precision and the frequency range. As such, it is possible to provide a very accurate description of the lateral dynamics in the linear range up to 3 Hz using a linear single track model, for example, which is enhanced by the influences of rolling motion, roll steer effects, tire and steering system dynamics as well as elastokinematics.
