Digital wind tunnel

In addition to the experimental tests in the wind tunnels, numeric flow simulation is also used in the research and development projects at FKFS.

Testing in the digital wind tunnel, the numeric equivalent of an experimental testing environment, has the advantage that it can even be implemented at an early stage without hardware. Depending on the task, testing can also be performed accompanied by validation experiments in the wind tunnels.

 

All simulations are carried out on the FKFS owned cluster.

 

Innovative morphing tools are used for parameter studies and qualitative geometry variations.
