In the field of Engine Acoustics, the FKFS is working on the following topics:

The following measurement and analysis methods are used:

  • Air and structure-borne sound measuring technology
    (microphones, artificial heads, acceleration sensor, scanning laser vibrometer)
  • High- and lowpressure indication
  • Noncontact measurement (eddy-current principle) of short paths
    (crankshaft shift, piston rocking, flywheel wobble, movements in valve gear)
  • Rotational nonuniformity measurement and torsional vibration analysis
  • Simultaneous digital measuring signal acquisition, time and crank angle-dependent, > 50 channels
  • Common and special processes of digital signal analysis
