Driving Dynamics Control

Systems for driving dynamics control have seen enormous improvements in recent years with respect to their performance and their coordination. Different control tasks concerning the driving dynamics can be improved by using the sensor system installed in vehicles in conjunction with control algorithms and the corresponding control elements.

The field of driving dynamics control at the FKFS conducts extensive research that has already led to the development of a number of assistance systems.

To ensure optimal performance under different ambient conditions, the robust control is an essential component of the development.

A selection of applied control and assistance systems are:

  • Estimating driving conditions
  • State space modeling and control design
  • Multivariable control
  • Robust control (H∞, µ-synthesis)
  • Nonlinear control
  • Cornering assistance
  • Passing assistance
  • Driver models based on control engineering and artificial intelligence
  • Lap time optimization
