Air flow around the vehicle decisively influences driving performance via drag, and driving safety via distribution of lift and side forces over the vehicle principle axes. By shaping the vehicle suitably, the external air flow can be optimized and the drag lowered, the lift distribution adjusted and the crosswind sensitivity reduced.
An important prerequisite for this is that the on-road drive and the related wheel rotation are realistically reproduced, both in the wind tunnel test and in the numerical flow simulation (CFD).
FKFS works on research projects involving the optimization of testing technology and instrumentation and fundamental aerodynamic problems. It also supports its customers specifically with regard to the aerodynamic design and optimization of vehicles and important vehicle parts.
