Numerical structural acoustics

The following calculation tools are available with regard to the known structural-acoustic methods, which are used for problem solving and development in vehicle acoustics: 

  • Dynamic finite element calculation (Nastran, I-DEAS)
  • Harmonic finite element method (FEM) and boundary element method (BEM) (Virtual.Lab)
  • Statistical energy analysis (SEA)

An important focus lately has been the interaction between the air flow around the vehicle and the resulting deformation or vibration of the body parts (fluid/structure coupling or interaction). Here, FKFS is likewise developing methods to facilitate this.
