During the vehicle development process, it is becoming increasingly important to measure the geometry of parts or of a complete vehicle. In principle, a distinction is made between tactile and optical measuring methods.
At FKFS, there are various methods available, depending on the requirements:

- Determining the front fact of the vehicle with the 3D coordinate measuring table
Potential areas of application:
- Surface feedback after modifications in the creation phase of vehicle contours
- Comparison between virtual and real contours
- Generation of surface models for simulations or for creating copies using "rapid prototyping"
- Determination of the cross-sectional area of the vehicle
