The universal friction meter (Universeller Reibungsmesser (URM)) is for systematically testing tire properties. Here, the forces and torques acting between the tires and road surface are measured, under the variation of the wheel load, camber, slip angle and slip parameters.
A watering apparatus allows a defined water film to be applied in front of the measuring wheel to investigate the tire properties in wet conditions. These are especially important for safety in road traffic. With the measured values that have been calculated, both tire characteristics can be created as well as tire models parameterized.
