To show the differences between the real situation on the road and the simulation in the wind tunnel and to map them qualitatively as well quantitatively, experiments are conducted on the road and in the aeroacoustics vehicle wind tunnel of the IVK.
This wind tunnel features unique options for a detailed replication of the road conditions and therefore is ideally suited for such investigations.

For the best possible representation of the road conditions in the wind tunnel, the effect of the cooling air cross-flow (mock-up) on the pressure distribution on the vehicle on the road is determined. By using an optimal configuration of the ground simulation devices, the same pressure distribution as that found on the road is generated on the vehicle in the wind tunnel.
