Investigations of the Thermal Management on Motor Vehicles by Means of Simulation and Experiment

Definition: Thermal management

At its core, thermal management encompasses the thermal processes taking place in the motor vehicle and the components and systems involved in the process. An additional aspect is the control and regulation of the processes that predominantly feature an unsteady character. On top of it, an additional focus of the thermal management is on the dimensioning and calculation of thermal components up to the simulation of extensive system interconnections.

Goals of thermal management

- Ensuring engine cooling at every operating point

- Reducing fuel consumption

- Improving passenger compartment comfort
