Real-time Simulation and Driving Simulators
- Under the research project VALIDATE, which is funded by the BMBF, the largest driving simulator in Europe is built at the University of Stuttgart with support by the FKFS. Aim of this project is the analysis of electronic control and driver assistance systems which help to reduce CO2 emissions. Further information you can find here.

Further activities:
- Simulation of vehicle dynamics and drivetrain of passenger cars and trucks.
- Simulation of complete vehicles including electronics and ECU software
- Development and application of driving simulators
- Integration of real electronic systems into driving simulators as hardware-in-the-loop
Examples for implemented systems are:
- FKFS driving simulator with 3D stereo graphics for the development of driving strategies
- Haptic simulator with high precision steering unit for developing novel steering systems
