Since mid 2007, the field of "automotive mechatronics" has been divided into the fields "Software" and Electronics. Both fields work closely together since the technical problems in the interdisciplinary environment of mechatronics often overlap. This is also reflected in the joint utilization of resources such as work stations, labs, software and hardware.
The topics of the field Electronics apply to all vehicle segments in theory and practice. One main area consists of the networks and architecture of electronic components and systems. The developments include current standards, such as AutoSAR, ISO 14229 or the VDI Guideline 2221.
