As part of the 2nd ÖPNV-Zukunftskongress (translated: Congress of the Future of Public Transport) in Freiburg, our colleague Dr.-Ing. Ulrike Weinrich participated in the expert session “Autonomous Driving” on May 6, 2025.
Together with Magdalena Linnig (Stadtverkehr Friedrichshafen GmbH), she presented key insights from the RABus project and shared experiences from the real-world operation of automated shuttles. Fabian Zimmer (Verkehrsbetriebe Hamburg-Holstein GmbH) contributed perspectives from the “ahoi” project in Hamburg.
Moderator Niklas Schöllhorn (Ministry of Transport Baden-Württemberg) opened with a policy-oriented introduction from the perspective of the state of Baden-Württemberg.
The expert session was met with active engagement and insightful questions from the audience, underlining the strong interest and relevance of the topic. The combination of technical implementation, operational practice and municipal experience was particularly well received.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Zukunftsnetzwerk ÖPNV BW for the excellent organization and the opportunity to share our perspectives in this hands-on session.
Autonomous public transport is no longer a vision of the future – it is already a reality. We look forward to continuing to help shape this transformation through the RABus project.
