The RABus research project, which integrates autonomous shuttles into public transport, is being extended! Minister of Transport Winfried Hermann announced at the closing event last Saturday that the project will be extended for another six months. This will not only allow research on the acceptance and practicality of autonomous shuttles to be intensified, but also the technology to be further developed. For this purpose, the Ministry of Transport is increasing its funding for the project by 1.8 million euros.

“The extension gives us the opportunity to test RABus even more intensively under real-life conditions and to make the technology fit for the future", explains our colleague Dr.-Ing. Ulrike Weinrich, project manager for the RABus project at FKFS.

With more than 1,600 test participants registered, there is great public interest in this pioneering mobility solution. The focus of the extension is to increase safety, further develop the technology and analyse the economic efficiency.
