World record attempt by the GreenTeam on September 1, 2022

After the great first place at Formula Student Germany, the GreenTeam wants to set another highlight this week.

The GreenTeam has set itself no lower goal than to accelerate the self-designed electric racing car from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in under 1.5 seconds. "We have been preparing for this day for almost a year now," says Pavel Povolni, first chairman of the GreenTeam Uni Stuttgart e.V. "We" are 20 young people from different courses of study at the University of Stuttgart. They are working on their e-car in their own workshop on the Vaihingen campus.

The carbon racing car weighs just under 145 kilograms and, thanks to its four-wheel drive with self-developed motors and newly designed high-voltage accumulator, puts a maximum output of 180 kilowatts on the road. Due to the low vehicle weight, this corresponds to 1750 hp per tonne. The vehicle can thus achieve a peak acceleration of 2.5g, which is roughly comparable to the force experienced by astronauts when the rocket re-enters the Earth's atmosphere.

In 2012, the GreenTeam was able to bring the record with an acceleration from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in 2.681 seconds to Stuttgart for the first time. After this record was broken by teams from the Netherlands and Switzerland, the Stuttgart team managed to break the record again in 2015, setting a time of 1.779 seconds as the new best. In 2016, the Swiss team broke it with a time of 1.513 seconds and has since set it as the best time. And what are the GreenTeam's chances of bringing the record back to Germany on 1 September 2022? "We are extremely motivated and have invested so much time and energy in the project that we are firmly convinced we can break the world record," says Povolni.
