Turning point at the FKFS

There were far-reaching changes in the FKFS Board of Directors on 01.10.2022.

At the beginning of October, Prof. Dr.-Ing. André Casal Kulzer took up his new position on the Board of the FKFS. Since 01.01.2022, he had already been active as deputy board member at the FKFS and now succeeds his predecessor Prof. Dr.-Ing. Michael Bargende, who took his well-deserved retirement on 30.09.2022. As of 01.10.2022, Kulzer will now replace Bargende on the Executive Board and will thus head the area of Automotive Powertrain Systems. In addition, he will become Chairman of the Board of the FKFS and thus have optimal conditions to prepare the FKFS for the times ahead and to lead it into a promising future. Environmentally friendly vehicle powertrains will be the focus of his department - from battery-electric powertrains to CO2-neutral fuels and hydrogen-powered engines.

The changes at the FKFS are also accompanied by changes at the IFS cooperation institute of the University of Stuttgart. This is because Kulzer became head of the Chair of Automotive Powertrain Systems at the University of Stuttgart at the same time, which was previously known as Automotive Powertrains.

Kulzer looks back on a successful professional career in the automotive industry. After receiving his doctorate from the University of Stuttgart in 2004, he held various management positions at Robert Bosch GmbH and Dr. Ing. h.c.F. Porsche AG, most recently as Head of Performance Development and Combustion Processes including the topics of regenerative fuels and electrified drive concepts at Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG.
