FKFS is in charge of project RABus for highly automated bus operation

On 23 October 2019, Baden-Württemberg's Minister of Transport Winfried Hermann signed a letter of intent to launch the "Real Laboratory for Automated Bus Operation in Public Transport in the City and Country (RABus)" project. In addition to the FKFS, which is in charge of the project, the other project partners are KIT, ZF Friedrichshafen and various public transport companies in Baden-Württemberg, which will now prepare a project application in the next step.

The focus of the project is on the application and experience of automated mobility solutions in public transport. Different vehicle types will be tested in different scenarios in real operation and the experience gained will be evaluated. The aim is to assess the transferability and to develop recommendations for action. "We are proud to be able to play a leading role in this groundbreaking project in such a competent consortium. We are looking forward to this and are now working at full speed on the application," said Prof. Hans-Christian Reuss from the FKFS board of management.
