Cluster meeting of the NAMOSYN consortium at the FKFS

FC2 cluster of the NAMOSYN consortium met at the FKFS yesterday. The acronym NAMOSYN stands for sustainable mobility with synthetic fuels. The aim of the project is to develop and test synthetic fuels for diesel and gasoline engines that can be produced and used sustainably. In the FC2 cluster, the FKFS is responsible for mapping the combustion/knocking and emission behaviour of synthetic fuels DMC+ in 0D/1D simulation software.

The NAMOSYN consortium includes universities, Fraunhofer Institutes, large research institutions and industrial companies. The latter cover the entire value chain. The supply chain from chemical synthesis through process development, plant construction and engine technology to the automobile manufacturer. This is a great strength of NAMOSYN, because synthetic fuels can only be successfully developed if experts work together for all steps from the provision of resources to chemical production and practical testing in the engine. The project is coordinated by DECHEMA with its 37 project partners and a volume of around 20 million euros. The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).

Further information on the project can be found here.
