FKFS at the MTZ symposium "Heavy Duty, On- and Off-Highway Engines"

For commercial vehicles, the EU stipulates a 30% reduction in the CO2 emissions of the fleet sold by 2030. Especially for heavy-duty/long haul trucks, battery electric or fuel cell concepts are still associated with restrictions in the next 10 years. Therefore, combustion engine concepts such as lean CNG/LNG combustion or hydrogen combustion are highly interesting.  These technologies can be simulated with the FKFS simulation software UserCylinder® and were presented at the FKFS booth. For suppliers in particular, the FKFS offers a virtual engine construction kit with which the repercussions of future technologies on individual components can be assessed very easily. For ocean shipping, the IMO has made a voluntary commitment to halve CO2 emissions by 2050. This cannot be achieved without CO2-neutral, synthetic fuels. Many of these fuels (e.g. LNG, methanol, DMC, ...) can already be simulated with the FKFS tools; research work is ongoing on other fuels.
