Ongoing development trends like electric mobility and autonomous driving functions increase the need to examine the overall vehicle dynamics, i. e. combined longitudinal, lateral, and vertical dynamics. The Stuttgart Handling Roadway System of FKFS allows this holistic examination of the vehicle dynamics under laboratory conditions. The system combines the advantages of full vehicle testing with maximum repeatability of the results and hazard-free evaluation of potentially dangerous driving situations and corner cases.
In addition to conventional vehicle dynamics measurements, this vehicle-in-the-loop testing environment provides our clients with new opportunities for function development and testing of new vehicle dynamics control systems and driver assistance systems. The system allows risk-free tests for the implementation and diagnostics of previously unvalidated driving functions and therefore constitutes a valuable tool in the development process.
