On the second day of the 2023 Conference on Powertrains with Renewable Energy Carriers, visitors were once again awaited by a large number of interesting expert presentations. One particular highlight was the keynote speech by Wolfgang Warnecke from Warnecke Mobility. In his presentation "Options and Challenges of Renewable Energy Carriers in Transport", he explored – as a formerly Chief Scientist Mobility of Shell – the possibilities of various alternative fuels from the perspective of a big energy company. His resounding conclusion was that there will be no "one size fits all" solution for all mobility applications.
Elmar Kühn from UNITI gave the keynote speech in the afternoon. In his presentation "With eFuels to Affordable CO2-Neutral Mobility", he highlighted the many benefits of eFuels, especially in terms of CO2 neutrality. Mr. Kühn dispelled common misconceptions about eFuels and explained what needs to happen on a global scale for them to become established.
