What will the mobility of tomorrow look like? Visitors to the Überlingen State Garden Show (LaGa) can gain an insight into this in the villa gardens in front of the plant house from September 1 to 4, 2021. On display will be a fully electric, autonomous shuttle from ZF, which will be used until 2023 as part of the RABus funding project of the state of Baden-Württemberg. Representatives of the project will be available to answer questions on the subject of autonomous passenger transport in local public transport. In addition, a visitor survey on user acceptance will be conducted by KIT. Children will have the opportunity to be introduced to the topics of robotics and sensor technology in a playful way.

RABus is an acronym and stands for "Reallabor für den Automatisierten Busbetrieb im ÖPNV in der Stadt und auf dem Land". Within the framework of RABus, largely economical public transport operations with electrified and automated vehicles will be established in Mannheim and Friedrichshafen by the end of 2023. To achieve this, the vehicles will be able to "float along" in regular traffic - at a minimum of 40 km/h in urban areas and at a minimum of 60 km/h in extra-urban areas. The scientific community is also intensively involved in the project through accompanying research on acceptance, cost-effectiveness and technical solutions. The project is funded by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Transport. Project partners are: Research Institute of Automotive Engineering and Vehicle Engines Stuttgart (FKFS), Rhein-Neckar-Verkehr GmbH (rnv), DB ZugBus Regionalverkehr Alb-Bodensee GmbH (RAB), Stadtverkehr Friedrichshafen GmbH (SVF), Institute of Transportation (IfV) at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), ZF Friedrichshafen AG (ZF).
