Last week, an unusual project took place in the FKFS Full Scale Wind Tunnel: a panel van with a sleeper roof of the SCA brand was tested. This type of roof is manufactured by the C.F. Maier group - a respected partner of the leisure and commercial vehicle industry - for a wide range of basic vehicles. Thanks to a pop-up sleeper roof, the vehicle gains headroom in the interior and expands the number of sleeping spaces.
The demand for comfort and the engine performance of vehicles is also growing steadily: a Mercedes V-Class equipped with a sleeper roof can reach top speeds of well over 200 km/h on the highway. The FKFS Full Scale Wind Tunnel is suited ideally for testing the forces of increasing speed as well as the resulting suction effects and the wind noise in the vehicle. The forces exerted on the product by crosswinds were also tested. The tests were positive in many respects: For the client, the results were positive throughout!
