FKFS Academy: Summer courses successfully completed

Three courses from our FKFS Academy training series took place over the past few weeks.

The courses “Electrification of Mobility”, “Hydrogen for Mobility”, and “Vehicle Aerodynamics & Aeroacoustics” were offered in July. All courses included comprehensive theoretical sessions as well as practical insights.

Electrification of Mobility

Prof. Giorgio Rizzoni from the Ohio State University provided participants in his 2.5-day course with valuable insights of the topic of electrification in mobility. In addition to the theoretical content, there was also a practical session in the computer lab with simulations to complement the learning experience. At the end, participants visited two of our test benches, rounding off the program.

Hydrogen for Mobility

This year, Prof. André Casal Kulzer and Hans-Jürgen Berner offered their 1.5-day course on hydrogen for the second time. They provided an in-depth overview of the topic and covered the production, transport, storage, and application of hydrogen in mobility. In addition to the comprehensive theoretical content, the program included a tour at FKFS, during which participants were able to get a close-up look at two of our test benches.

Vehicle Aerodynamics & Aeroacoustics

Dr.-Ing. Daniel Stoll led the three-day course Vehicle Aerodynamics & Aeroacoustics. Participants from Korea, Great Britain, and the Czech Republic learned about the fundamental principles of vehicle aerodynamics and aeroacoustics, as well as state-of-the-art measurement techniques for aerodynamic and aeroacoustic investigations, methods for numerical flow simulation, and optimization strategies. In addition to in-depth theoretical sessions, there was a comprehensive practical part in which participants were able to put their newly acquired knowledge directly into practice in exercises in our test facilities, such as the full-scale wind tunnel and the model wind tunnel.

In all courses, our guests had the opportunity not only to expand their knowledge, but also to make valuable contacts and discuss topics that are currently on their minds at a relaxed evening event. A big thank you to all participants and speakers for their great cooperation, which led to the success of the FKFS Academy.
