High-level delegation visits FKFS

On Monday, 23.05.2022, a delegation of members of the Bavarian and Baden-Württemberg state parliaments was a guest in Stuttgart. Visiting were: Dr. Albrecht Schütte MdL, Science Policy Spokesman of the CDU Parliamentary Group Baden-Württemberg; Tim Stephan, Parliamentary Advisor of the CDU Parliamentary Group Baden-Württemberg; Robert Brannekämper, Member of the Bavarian Parliament and Chairman of the Committee for Science and Art and his colleague Tobias Kurzmaier.

At IFS and FKFS, the guests learned about activities in the field of automated and connected driving. Prof. Hans-Christian Reuss began by giving an overview of the diverse areas of expertise in which the institutes IFS and FKFS operate. The cooperation with other universities, especially in Baden-Württemberg, was also discussed. Our guests showed great interest in the ongoing research projects. For example, Dr. Manfred Wacker from the Institute of Road and Transportation (ISV) presented the MobiLab project (https://www.uni-stuttgart.de/forschung/projekte/vielfalt/mobilab/), in which autonomous eScooters and a CampusShuttle, among other things, are being implemented. The ability of the eScooters to balance themselves was demonstrated by David Meister and Marc Seidel from the Institute for Systems Theory and Control Engineering (IST). Afterwards, Dr. Dan Keilhoff of IFS gave an insight into the implementation of the CampusShuttle as well as the integration of automated driving into various university courses. The event was rounded off by a short tour of the institute, during which our employees Dr. Gerd Baumann and Christian Holzapfel introduced the guests to the Stuttgart Driving Simulator. There was also great interest in the Handling Roadway test bench. Ultimately, the discussions with employee Dr. Werner Krantz were solely brought to an end by the delegation's strict schedule. We would like to thank the delegation very much for their time and the good discussions.
