Italian Ambassador visited FKFS

On 24 November, the Italian Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany, Dr. Armando Varricchio, visited FKFS. He was accompanied by the Consul General of Italy in Stuttgart, Dr. Massimiliano Lagi. The visit of the Ambassador and the Consul General underlines and reinforces the already strong cooperation between Baden-Württemberg and Lombardy. FKFS hosts excellent researchers and engineers from all over the world, and the Italian presence within the Institute is particularly significant.

The main topics discussed during the visit were the energy challenge, the need to diversify technologies, the important electrification trend, and the development of new-concept internal combustion engines along with sustainable fuels. All with a view to meeting the guidelines set by the European Union to achieve a consistent reduction in CO2 emissions. In order to further strengthen the collaboration on these important research topics in the near future, FKFS has presented concrete objectives to join the 'Lombardia Mobility Cluster' and then to establish an Institute branch in Italy, at the Kilometro Rosso innovation centre (Bergamo). The Ambassador and the Consul expressed their pride and satisfaction, describing FKFS as an example of masterful cooperation among engineers from different home countries to shape the mobility of the future.
